The sky surrounds the sunlight in a swirl of blue and gold
The kind of day that makes you want to watch the world unfold
A brilliant summer sunrise out beyond my windowpane
So why am I still thinking about the rain
The clouds are perfect puffs of white, the trees are emerald green
There isn’t any sign of storms or darkness to be seen
Not to leave this room and go outside would be a shame
So why am I still thinking about the rain
I’m remembering that Sunday morning thunderstorm with you
I can see the lightning dancing with the raindrops on the roof
We let the water wash the hours away like it was heaven sent
Then just like us it somehow had to end
Then just like us it somehow had to end
I miss the gray of leaden skies, the tension in the air
I keep hoping for a downpour like I might just find you there
But no matter how I wish or dream the forecast stays the same
So why am I still thinking about the rain
I’m remembering that Sunday morning thunderstorm with you
I can see the lightning dancing with the raindrops on the roof
We let the water wash the hours away like it was heaven sent
Then just like us it somehow had to end
Then just like us it somehow had to end
If life changes like the weather, I might be with you again
And that’s why I’m still thinking about the rain
That’s why I’m here still thinking about the rain
