The night rain whispers outside my room,
In this small six-square space, a foreign gloom.
Though I know the burden of being a poet’s fate,
I sit and wonder, should I write a single line this late?
With the scent of sweat and love held close,
A scholarship in hand, I feel morose.
Heading to class, notebook in hand,
To hear an old professor’s words so grand.
Looking back, I see my friends,
One by one, our journey ends.
What is it that I truly seek?
Why do I sink, so quiet, so meek?
Life, they say, is hard to bear,
Yet poems come easy, like soft air.
This simple act, I feel ashamed,
For life is tough, but words are tamed.
With the scent of sweat and love held close,
A scholarship in hand, I feel morose.
Heading to class, notebook in hand,
To hear an old professor’s words so grand.
In this room, that isn’t mine,
The rain outside continues to shine.
I light a lamp to chase the night,
Awaiting the dawn, like a soldier in flight.
I reach out to myself at last,
A small handshake, forgetting the past.
In tears, I find my comfort here,
A quiet solace, soft and clear.
In the stillness of this final night,
I await the morning’s early light.
With trembling hands, I write my rhyme,
As time slips by, in gentle chime.
I extend my hand to meet my own,
A gesture of peace, I’ve never known.
In tears and comfort, I find my start,
The first handshake with my quiet heart.
